Knowledge of local anesthetics anaphylaxis among dental practitioners in a Nigerian tertiary hospital


 Background: Anaphylaxis is an acutely presenting life-threatening medical emergency. Studies have shown that dentists feel inadequately able to recognize and treat anaphylaxis. This study aims determine the level of knowledge local anesthetic (LA) anaphylaxis among in a Nigerian Teaching Hospital.
 Methods: cross-sectional, questionnaire-based was conducted dental practitioners at Dental complex University Benin Hospital, Nigeria from August 2020 January 2021. The questionnaire consisted 21 items divided into four main sections: (1) Demographic characteristics, (2) general on anaphylaxis, (3) signs symptoms (4) treatment Data analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20.0, IBM, Armonk, NY, USA.
 Results: 101 respondents approached agreed participate study. There were more males (64.4%) compared females. Majority aged 30 -39 years. None knew completely all anaphylactic reaction LA. got complete drugs be kept office LA Less than half (43.6%) epinephrine drug first choice reactions. Only 50 (49.5%) best route administration intramuscular route.
 Conclusion: Adequate anesthesia lacking our centre.
